Our family booked a Hanoi Sightseeing Tour package with Alyssa Le at Altour Indochina. Although the company normally does not recommend this tour on Mondays because the museums are closed, Alyssa Le was able to work around our one day in Hanoi (a Monday!) and find alternative, educational sights to see. She proved to be a great organizer and arranger.
Thang was a great guide - articulate, personable, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about Vietnam and its history. He picked us up right on time at our hotel, and we got to see and experience a full range of attractions in Hanoi from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM.
The tour was a well-balanced mix of walking and driving around Hanoi. Our chauffeured private car was comfortable and stocked with bottles of water, little pastries, and packets of tissues/wet wipes in case we needed them. Driving in Vietnam is also amazing!
We got to see not only the major tourist sights (e.g., Literature temple, Tran Quoc Pagoda, Hoan Kiem Lake, National Political Center with Parliament Building, President Palace, Communist Party Office…) but also our children can practice making pots & decorating bowl at Bat Trang ceramic Village. Then at the end of the day, we return to Old city - really off the beaten track parts of Hanoi, with immersive, thoughtfully curated experiences at local markets and traditional coffee shops. Thang was great at explaining everything we saw, answered all of our questions, and also supplemented the tour with background research and photos that he showed us on his tablet.
